5th international e-bus conference,31 May-1 June 2016, Berlin

Enhancing quality of life in our cities Sustainable development and the protection of qualitative living standards are two of the most important factors in maintaining as well as improving the attractiveness of urban life. A growing number of towns and cities have now deployed modern electric buses, thereby testing different technical solutions in order to reduce emissions and noise. Intelligent public transport systems help ensure the fundamental right to mobility while reducing negative environmental impacts on our urban living spaces.read more[more]

trolley:motion is partner of the new European project “ELIPTIC"

- “Electrification of public transport in cities”, funded though the Horizon 2020 programme. The project starts on June 1st 2015 with the Kick-off Meeting in Brussels and researches the potential of further electrification of public transport in combination with existing transportation infrastructure and networks as well as based on new business models. The introduction of electric buses is a core aspect of ELIPTIC to further improve the environmental profile of public transport. In addition to electric buses, the project looks as well into improving energy performance in light rail and the multi-purpose use of infrastructure to support further electrification in transport. ELIPTIC demonstrates different technical approaches in 22 showcases – variations of electrified public transport under different operational, geographical and...[more]

The ACTUATE (Advanced Training and Education for Safe Eco-driving of Clean Vehicles) project, funded through EU’s Intelligent Energy Europe Programme published a “Lessons Learnt Brochure”.

The aim of ACTUATE was to develop, test and implement advanced driver training and education concepts for safe eco-driving in the public transport sector. As previously existing eco-driving initiatives had mainly focused on diesel vehicles, there was a real void to fill by supporting the introduction of safe eco-driving trainings for clean vehicles, i.e. trams, trolleybuses and hybrid buses. In order to unlock this potential, the project put a particular focus on the drivers, as they are the pivotal element for better vehicle handling, safer performance and optimised energy savings. ACTUATE developed numerous sets of training materials, such as concepts, brochures and presentations, in order to implement comprehensive programmes for safe eco-driving. All of the training materials are available free of charge on the project website...[more]

ACTUATE - EU-Project for ecologically-friendly and economically-efficient driving style

An ecologically-friendly and economically-efficient driving style helps reduce energy consumption, save money and significantly lower CO2 emissions. Studies have shown that the operation of electric public transport vehicles such as trams, trolleybuses or hybrid (electric) buses benefit particularly from eco-driving techniques. Thus operational expenses may be reduced and passenger comfort enhanced. The European project “ACTUATE - Advanced Training and Education for Safe Eco-driving of Clean Vehicles” focused on the importance of safe eco-driving of clean vehicles and provides public transport operators with the opportunity to introduce and test safe eco-driving trainings. The ACTUATE consortium comprises public transport operators, further education organisations, clean vehicle manufacturers and trolley:motion. Starting from the...[more]
