Samara [RU] - Stadler delivers 19 new trolleybuses
J. Lehmann - 25.05.15
On 23 March 2015, the first of 19 new trolleybuses was formally unveiled with local and regional dignitaries in attendance. The new vehicles of the 321 type are the first to be produced by Stadler Rail at its plant in Belarus, following the takeover of the state company Belkommunmash.
The new low-floor trolleybuses will be numbered as 911-929 in Samara and are allocated to depot 1. In exchange, 8 older trolleys numbered as 80-87 have been re-deployed to depot 2. Presently, the municipal trolleybus fleet still consists mainly of the older ZiU682 type, which was built between 1985 and 1991. The total fleet size has been reduced from 250 to roughly 230, as during the last two years 31 units were withdrawn in separate phases.
