Ceske Budejovice [CZ] - 2-year plan for fleet renewal
K. Budach - 04.07.16
In late May, the local public transport company DPMCB announced a comprehensive procurement plan for new urban buses. These are to be delivered until late 2018 and consist of 23 natural gas vehicles, 11 mid-sized battery electric buses and 15 more articulated trolleys with low floor access. This follows the most recent purchase of two more type 27Tr trolleys from the consortium of Solaris and Skoda, which are due for delivery in the second half of 2016. Formal tenders for the big shopping list will go out during the next few months.
The present trolleybus fleet consists of 33 articulated, low floor units and 15 high floor trolleys of the Skoda 15Tr type. The oldest vehicles date from 1991, the same year the trolleybus network was reopened. The newest high floor trolleys in Ceske Budejovice are from 2002-2004 and therefore will still remain in service for a few years. They are consecutively numbered 48 - 57.
The Skoda type 25Tr is the most numerous modern vehicle of the Ceske Budejovice trolleybus fleet, with a total of 31 units presently in service.
