Szeged [HU] - Home made low floor Trolleybuses
J. Lehmann - 06.10.08
The latest addition to the ever growing number of low floor Trolleybuses is ex Budweis number 44, a Skoda 21Tr now number T-802, which was in service there from 1998 until 2006. It has undergone a comprehensive remake and now joins the other eight "home made" low floor Trolleybuses which include A Volvo diesel bus conversion number T-850, four Citaro diesel bus conversions, numbers T-860 to 863, of which the first went into service on 18.04.2007. A fifth Citaro is currently undergoing conversion and further conversions are to follow when the appropriate vehicles have been found. There are also a further 4 Skoda 21Tr Trolleybuses.
There is only one low floor articulated Trolleybus in service, a Skoda 22Tr which went into service on 13.03.2008. The rest of the articulated vehicles are Skoda 15Tr numbered 600 to 618. Ex Budweis, 05 which was acquired during 2007, will become number 619 after it's rebuild. Other 15Tr vehicles, however, have precedence number T-601, for example, having recently re-entered service after general overhaul.
There are also 3 Ikarus articulated Trolleybuses in the fleet, though they are hardly ever in service. One of the vehicles, number 505, is to be restored to it's original state, even down to a repaint in the original red livery.
Route 8 is currently being served by Trolleybuses as it has been shortened to it's original length due to the renewal of the Tram crossing at Anna Kút. The overhead wiring is also to rebuilt as a Trolleybus /Tram crossing.
Our photo shows Skoda 21Tr Trolleybus number T-601 which is also, like T-602, an ex Budweis vehicle.
